Welcome to The Scottish Pearl!

The Name: The Scottish Pearl.

A friend in my Uni days insisted I should have a nickname and so after a lot of resistance on my part, my nickname was born,  “Pearl”. The name stuck. That nickname was so successful that very few knew my real name, Shirley.

Fast forward to today, I have adopted and grown quite fond of my nickname. It has grown with me and I now see it as a symbol of many things that I treasure. Pun not intended! Now that I have made Edinburgh my home and live among so many Scottish gems, I have become passionate about sharing my discoveries. So it seems fitting that I become The Scottish Pearl that shares Scottish gems aka pearls!

Sharing Scottish Pearls.

I love shining a light on Scotland’s most treasured spots which I fondly refer to as Scottish Pearls. Through my photos, I strive to share unique, positive virtual and physical experiences not only of the popular Scottish landscapes and cultural gems, but also of areas that are not so widely known or perhaps overlooked and even missed.
As the Scottish Pearl, I hope to bring forward an authenticity where you too can find a Scottish gem or two. In summary, the Scottish Pearl’s passion is to share Scottish Pearls.

What to Expect.

Since sharing my photos for the past couple of years, many have asked about my services. Frankly, I have been sharing my photos for the love and passion for this Bonnie land, Scotland. I intend to continue to do so for as long as I can. However, it is a new year and with so many requests for other services, I thought I would launch this site to support that.

I will share random findings, thoughts and stories as part of this blog. All photos are my own

I will also share future prints of my photos and recommend services on this site. as requested by my audience. I look forward to this journey as we continue to discover pearls together.

  1. Thank you for your Moffat blog – really helpful and lovely photos (there are 2 places where I couldn’t read the vertical line of text easily). Thanks again
