Sunset at The Meadows and The Born-Free Forever Exhibition in Edinburgh

I decided to go for a wee walk yesterday evening and ended up at the Meadows in Edinburgh.

Buccleuch Place Entrance to The Meadows

As I entered the park the sun was setting and the sky was suddenly golden.

What a beautiful backdrop. Needless to say, I stopped walking and started clicking. I perhaps went overboard taking photos.

Mother Nature is truly remarkable. It was lovely to see people enjoying the park and admiring the glow of the sky.

Born Free Forever Exhibition

While I was there I took the opportunity to revisit the Born-Free Forever Exhibition. I discovered the exhibition with a friend just a few days ago. I was surprised by its installation.

The Exhibit During the Day

As I returned to the Meadows, I decided to take another look.

I have since learned that the exhibition is to increase awareness to protect lions. Below is a brief description from the Foundation’s site.

In honour of what would have been the 100th Birthday year of Bill Travers MBE, we are celebrating our fearless Co-Founder’s legacy by designating 2022 our ‘Year of the Lion’. Our year of action includes a UK-wide exhibition – Born Free Forever – with 25 stunning life-size, bronze lion sculptures touring the country to raise awareness and vital funds for lions through the Forever Lions Fund, set up in Bill’s memory.

The statues are amazing. They looked even more life-like under the setting sun.

The exhibition is at The Meadows until Jan 2023.

Sunset in Leith, Edinburgh

I did a short walk yesterday around Leith Links and The Shore.

Leith Links

As the sun was setting, I whipped out my phone to take a few quick shots. I loved the play on the clouds at the Links.

The Shore

The reflection at The Shore did not disappoint even though it started to rain. 🙌🏾

It was surreal.

Walking Calton Hill

Walking Calton Hill is my quick fix for elevated views. It is such a gem and a gift to have this park in the city centre.

I usually walk the hill at sunrise but this time I decided to do a sunset walk. The colours were not as vibrant as I know they can be but still worthy of taking a collection of pics. So feast your eyes on these.

Distant view of the Forth Bridge

Calton Hill’s views never disappoint. 360-degree views of the city are amazing. Views that truly never tire 🙌🏾

Kirkcaldy’s Waterfront

On one of my “meanderings” I made a pit-stop at Kirkcaldy in Fife. As many communities on the Fife coast have amazing beaches, I was curious about this town’s waterfront. Perhaps not the best time to visit given it was January but off I went anyway.

Well, you tell me.

Granted it was dusk and so the sun was going down which added to the ambiance. I sat on the rocks to enjoy Mother Nature’s show with a flask of tea in hand.

Just beautiful! No matter how many photos I took, I felt I could not capture what I was seeing. I continue to be in awe of not only the beauty of this place but the sense of wonder that goes with it.

It sure was a great pit-stop!

North Queensferry and The Three Bridges at Sunset

It was time for a break. A quick look at the clock and suddenly I knew exactly where that break should take place! So coffee made and flask in hand, I made my way to North Queensferry! I knew if I left immediately, I would catch the sunset.

I was in need of coffee and sunset.

Entering North Queensferry

Made it! Now you know the drill, right? It was all about finding the seat

Found the perfect seat!

It was a beautiful evening. I swear my coffee tasted better! Coffee, the three bridges and sunset. Perfection.

Beautiful sunset with the Three Bridges

As I finished my coffee and had soaked in my surroundings, I started to wonder where my next break would take me LOL!

Canada vs Scotland in January

Yesterday I was exploring yet again. After finding my seat for a well deserved coffee break, I received a WhatsApp message from my good friend in Canada. I immediately took the opportunity to use video mode to share my view! I know! It was mean. Anyway, as I was snapping pics on the return bus ride home, I asked that she send a photo of what it was like there. She did! Oh Canada!

As pretty as that snow looks, I do not miss it! That’s a lot of shovelling! My bus ride was welcomed by green hues and a lovely sunset

The ride to Dunfermline.

This is the difference between the two countries in January! Well at least compared to mid-Lothian and Fife!
